Class 2

Class Information:

We hope you all had a restful Summer break.

As many of you know, Mrs Court will sadly not be with us for a short while and we all wish her a speedy recovery.  In the meantime Mr Blake will be covering Mrs Court on a Monday to Thursday, with Mrs Humphreys teaching on a Friday.

Our P.E. sessions will continue to be on a Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure P.E. kits are always kept in school ready for these sessions. We will send them home at the end of each term for washing and for you to check that they have the right sized clothes and footwear in them. If your child wears earrings, please can these be removed or covered with tape on a Monday and Wednesday. Long hair also needs to be tied up.

Homework:

The Little Wandle reading books will be given out on Wednesdays for those children who are still following the programme. Please ensure that they are returned by the Friday. Your child will also have a class reading for pleasure book that they can change on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It is so important that you read with child as much as possible, reading is the gateway for children that makes all other learning possible. Please hear them read as often as you can and record this in their reading record books, thank you. (Link below)

Your child will also be receiving 5 spellings a week to practice at home.  These will be commonly used words taken from the Year 2 Statutory Spelling List.  We encourage the children to practice these spellings with an adult at home.  In the links below, you will find a link to the spelling list and also different methods that spellings can be practiced in a fun way.

Your child now also has a Times Tables Rock Stars account. They have all been given a password and details of how to access this. Please encourage your child to use this as and when they can, as it will really help them to become more confident with knowing their times tables, which in turn will help them to become more confident mathematicians. Our topic for terms 1 & 2 is ' Amazing People, Amazing places'
