Welcome to Class 3!

This is the happy home of our Year 3 children.

The class teacher is Mrs Tordoff and our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Gresty and Miss Eisel.

We have a busy and exciting term ahead of us.

Our term topic is 

TIME FOR CHANGE!

In History we will be exploring the Big Question 'Would prefer to live in the Stone Age, Bronze Age or Iron Age?'.

We investigate what prehistory means and when in time this refers to. We will explore how discoveries and advancements in technology transformed people's homes and farming. We will reach conclusions and extend our understanding of prehistory using archaeological findings such as artefacts from the Amesbury Archer burial site.

  

Our Geography topic in Term 2 will be all about the RAINFOREST! This will include learning about the features of a biome. We will then be focusing closely on the features of the Amazon Rainforest, locating it on a map and describing the four layers of a rainforest. We will be learning about the uses of rainforests and the impact humans have on it. This will involve learning about what the word indigenous means and how indigenous people rely on the rainforest. 

The current book we are reading in class  is 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes.

PE this term will be on a Tuesday and Friday. This does occasionally change based on hall usage, so please, if possible, have your PE kit in school Monday to Friday. Ensure all PE kit is labelled with your name and year group so we can return if it is lost.

Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be given back by Wednesday. Our spellings are given out early, before we start to practice them in the following week. This is in order for children to have longer to feel more secure and more time to practice them at home. Spellings will be practised daily, with the test on Friday. Please support your child's learning by listening to them read and recording this in their reading record books. Encourage your child to practice their timetables on TTRS!
